ABOUT GROSSENBACHER GUIDES

Streamside

In German, Grossenbacher literally translates to Big River.

Surrounded by the Madison, Yellowstone, Missouri, Jefferson and Gallatin rivers we feel right at home.

We are centrally located in Bozeman, Montana within easy driving distance of over 700 miles of Blue Ribbon trout water including our favorites the Madison, Yellowstone, and Missouri rivers. We also have access to many of the smaller streams in the area that are off the beaten path, but equally productive. From subtle Spring Creek fly fishing to float trips on the freestone legends, we can personally design a Montana flyfishing experience specifically tailored to your interests. Thank you for considering Grossenbacher Guides as your Montana Flyfishing Outfitter.

Brian

BRIAN GROSSENBACHER

Brian Grossenbacher has a BA from Wabash College and a Masters in Education from Montana State University. He has been a flyfishing outfitter and writer for almost 20 years and a photographer for five. Brian's photography career kicked off when he was asked to write the book Flyfishing Montana with Jenny. Rather than buying photography for the book they chose instead to buy a camera and traverse the back roads of Montana. Since that time Brian has had over five dozen catalog and magazine covers and his hunting and fishing photos have graced the pages of such publications as Field & Stream, Fly Rod & Reel, Gray's Sporting Journal, American Angler, Trout Magazine, Saltwater Sportsman, The Drake, Fly Fusion, Flyfisherman, Fly Fish America, Outside's Go, Montana Outdoors and the Big Sky Journal. Brian has provided imagery for the Simms, Orvis, Frontiers Travel, Buff, Brunton, Cloudveil, and Oboz product catalogs. He is also the author of Tying Flies Workstation, a comprehensive beginners guide to tying flies, which has sold over 60,000 copies, to date. Brian spends over 200 days a year on the water guiding, fishing, and taking photos. His photographs can be found at GrossenbacherPhoto.com.

JENNY GROSSENBACHER

Born and raised in Dallas, Jenny McMahan Grossenbacher moved to Montana with Brian in 1990 after the two met as backpacking guides in New Mexico. Jenny earned a BA in philosophy and a BS in Fish Wildlife Biology. Jenny has led grizzly bear research projects in both Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks, and songbird studies throughout Southwest Montana. In 2010 Jenny and Brian guided Oprah & Gayle in Yosemite National Park and they have both been featured as guest hosts on Flyfishing America. Jenny was selected as one of twelve international anglers to participate in ESPN's Great Outdoor Games in Lake Placid, New York where she competed against some of the best anglers in the world including Carter Andrews, Steve Rajeff, Tom Roland and the current European and Japanese casting champions. Jenny has appeared in Gray's Sporting Journal, Fly Rod Reel, American Angler, Flyfisherman, Saltwater Sportsman, Women & Fitness, Sporting Classics, Northwest Flyfishing, Big Sky Journal, and Field & Stream magazines. She has also appeared in several outdoor calendars and catalogs including LL Bean, Orvis, Dan Baily, Tubbs, and Simms. Brian and Jenny are the proud parents of two daughters, Mackenzie and Sable (and three labs, two cats, and two horses).
